EagleEye Studios had the pleasure of creating the title design and chapter animations for a unique and inspiring documentary film called The Meaning of Wild.
The Meaning of Wild is a half hour documentary film that takes viewers on a journey through one of our nation’s most wild and pristine landscapes – The Tongass National Forest of Southeast Alaska. The film follows wildlife cameraman Ben Hamilton as he travels by boat, plane, kayak and foot to capture and share the true value of Wilderness.
This film was selected as part of the DC Environmental Film Festival, premiering at the U.S. Department of the Interior.
Style Development
This project went through an evolution style to reach the final look seen above. Below you can see various pre-viz samples sent to the client. The original concept was the create small blocky 3D sets that would mimic the locations visited in the film. While feedback on the style was positive, the client had a more simple approach in mind.
For the final look, we squashed the 3D environments into 2D sets as seen below. These sets were placed in 3D space to create a bit of parallax with camera movement.
